Part-Time Accounts Payable Position for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation

National Thoroughbred sanctuary organization based in Saratoga Springs, NY, is looking for a part-time accounts payable person with full-charge bookkeeping experience to work 10-15 hours per week.  This person must be extremely organized and self-driven.  A passion for animal welfare a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Coding invoices and receipts to include fund, cost center, project and expense category.
  • Tracking revenue and expense sources related to events using project codes.
  • Entering invoices and receipts in a timely manner and generating periodic reports.
  • Obtaining all appropriate approvals for payment from management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and efficient processing of payments.
  • Ensure proper receipts and supporting documents are included and reconciled on a timely basis.
  • Reconciling monthly vendor statements to AP journal.
  • Recording all automatic and other online payments into AP database.
  • Recording and applying credits and other adjustments.
  • Working with vendors on questions, issues or new account set up.
  • Filing paid invoices with the use of volunteers.
  • Assisting with annual audit with respect to AP.
  • Provide back-up to Database Manager on gift entry and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (Araize) and CRM software. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications - particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Hours are flexible at the discretion of the accounting manager.  This is not a remote position, on-site only due to the nature of the job.  This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as discussed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Requirements:
A minimum of three years’ experience is required, preferably in a full-charge bookkeeping position with non-profit, cost-accounting experience plus; Associate Degree is preferred.

Salary:
Hourly Rate - $20 to $22 per hour depending on experience.  This PT position does not include benefits but does include flexibility with your work-week schedule.
