The Saratoga Center for the Family is seeking a passionate and dynamic Outreach and Education Specialist to support our mission of raising awareness about child abuse prevention. This role will focus on educating the community, especially youth, about child sexual and physical abuse prevention, while strengthening partnerships with local organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Outreach & Education Programs: Deliver age-appropriate child-abuse prevention education in schools and community settings. Travel required.
- Promote Training & Resources: Market educational materials and training opportunities to local agencies, schools, businesses, and faith-based organizations.
- Coordinate Community Events: Organize and support community events to build relationships with local stakeholders and enhance strategic partnerships.
- Utilize Communication Channels: Share prevention resources with families and the broader community through in-person engagements, online platforms, and social media.
- Evaluate Program Effectiveness: apply evaluation tools to ensure program quality and impact.
- Engage in Professional Development: Stay informed on best practices in child-abuse prevention and education.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation.
- Experience with youth: comfortable engaging with children, youth, and adults on sensitive topics, adapting messages for different audiences.
- Training & Presentation Skills: Ability to present training both in-person and online, making complex topics accessible and relatable.
- Empathy & Professionalism: Handle sensitive disclosures with compassion and confidentiality.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other software.
- Organization & Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Cultural Competency: Respect for diversity and experience working in multicultural settings.
- Team Player: collaborative with the ability to build positive relationships across various groups.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, or a related field.
- Experience with child advocacy centers and/or child abuse prevention is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility: occasional evenings and weekends required.
- Transportation: Own transportation required for travel within the community.
