Creed headlines sold out Travers Day concert at SPAC

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Shortly after thoroughbred Fierceness took the top spot in the Travers Stakes on Saturday at Saratoga Race Course, a trifecta of rock acts - Creed, Three Doors Down and Finger Eleven - brought the fierceness across town as they took the stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The Summer of '99 Tour drew a sold-out crowd of approximately 25,000 concertgoers to SPAC to cap off one of the Spa City's biggest days of the year.

Finger Eleven warmed up the audience with an opening set that included radio hits "One Thing" and "Paralyzer" as well as a new single titled "Adrenaline." Both hard-hitting and musically adventurous, the anthemic track about the thrill of being alive is the first sample of material from the Canadian band’s upcoming 2025 album.

Next up, Three Doors Down had fans waxing nostalgic with tunes like "Here Without You," "When I'm Gone" and the group's explosive debut single "Kryptonite." Frontman Brad Arnold, who started with the band as a teenager upon its formation in 1996, seemed elated to be singing in the spotlight nearly 30 years later to an amphitheater full of enthusiastic listeners.

After returning from a decade-long hiatus in 2023, Creed is certainly back in action - and has managed to return to mainstream popularity, as evidenced by a return to the Billboard charts. With his distinct vocal style and powerful stage presence, singer Scott Stapp and his bandmates undoubtedly entertained the masses at SPAC. Highlights of the headlining set were 1997's "My Own Prison," 1999 hit "Higher," and the group's number one 2000 single "With Arms Wide Open." In an encore, Creed performed "One Last Breath" and "My Sacrifice," before bidding farewell to Saratoga fans.

While the unofficial end of summer is creeping closer, SPAC still has several big events on its 2024 concert calendar, including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Walker Hayes and James Taylor all visiting over Labor Day weekend, as well as Deep Purple, Goose, Pitbull, Post Malone and the 2024 Farm Aid festival in September.
