Fall Tours at the Tang Teaching Museum

Join us for tours led by Tang Guides and Tang curators

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (September 4, 2024) — The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces a series of free public tours throughout the fall season.

The Tang offers two types of tours. Curator’s Tours are given at least once per month and include tours given by Skidmore College students who have organized exhibitions. Weekly tours are given by Tang Guides, many of whom are Skidmore College students, who are trained gallery ambassadors and tour guides. Tang Guide tours are every Sunday from September 8 through December 8.

The Tang also welcomes adult, community, and school groups to arrange private tours for their group. Groups should allow for 1 ½ hours for a visit and are limited to no more than 25 in a gallery. Larger groups can be split up. Arrangements can be made at least two weeks in advance by contacting Njeri Jennings, the Laurie M. Tisch Educator for K-12 and Community Programs, at 518-580-5538 or via email at njennings@skidmore.edu.

The Tang welcomes all visitors to its exhibitions, collections, and building. The Tang is committed to offering programs that are accessible to everyone. If any visitor or tour requires accommodations, such as ASL interpretation, please contact Olivia Cammisa-Frost, Special Events and Publications Manager, at 518-580-5529 or ocammisa@skidmore.edu, two weeks in advance of your visit.

The Museum, on the campus of Skidmore College, is open to the public Tuesday–Sunday, noon–5 pm, with extended hours until 9 pm Thursday. The campus entrance is at 815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, New York. Visitors can find ample parking in a lot adjacent to the Museum. Designated parking spaces are available for visitors with disabilities. The Tang entrance closest to the Tang lot is fully accessible.

Parking and admission to the Museum are free. For more information, contact the Tang Visitors Services Desk at 518-580-8080 or visit https://tang.skidmore.edu.

About the Tang Teaching Museum

The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College is a pioneer of interdisciplinary exploration and learning. A cultural anchor of New York’s Capital Region, the Tang’s approach has become a model for college and university art museums across the country—with exhibition programs that bring together visual and performing arts with interdisciplinary ideas from history, economics, biology, dance, and physics, to name just a few. The Tang has one of the most rigorous faculty-engagement initiatives in the nation, and a robust publication and touring exhibition program that extends the museum’s reach far beyond its walls. The Tang Teaching Museum’s award-winning building, designed by architect Antoine Predock, serves as a visual metaphor for the convergence of art and ideas. The Museum is open to the public Tuesday–Sunday, noon–5 pm, with extended hours until 9 pm Thursday. https://tang.skidmore.edu
