First New York Scholarship Program Now Accepting Applications

Albany, NY – The First New York Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program is now accepting applications from high school seniors planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the fall.

Four $2500 scholarships will be awarded to deserving high school seniors. One of the scholarships is in memory of Jennie Pennington, a long-time First New York board member and educator.

“Since our founding in 1937 as Schenectady Teachers Federal Credit Union, we have been proud to support educators and students,” said President and CEO Lucy Halstead. “Our scholarship program is one more way for us to give back to our roots and help future generations achieve their academic goals.”

The deadline for applications is March 14, 2025. Winners will be announced in early April, and checks will be presented at the First New York Annual Meeting later that same month.
