The Art of Community: Saratoga's Impact Sector Gathering

They care for hungry and homeless neighbors, maintain nature trails, put on concerts, keep seniors active, preserve our historic buildings, and so much more!
They are the leaders of Saratoga’s
social impact sector. What inspires and energizes them? How did they get into these unusual careers? What are their greatest hopes for our community?  What good advice can they share with us?

The Art of Community happens monthly on the last Tuesday from 4 – 5 PM. We start with a 30 minute conversation with a nonprofit leader and Caffe Lena Executive Director Sarah Craig, followed by an informal half hour gathering where nonprofit workers and volunteers can meet up to swap news, ideas and encouragement. All are welcome to come recharge and connect!

STEVE ROSENBLUM (HE/HIM), COMMUNITY
VOLUNTEER WITH OPERA SARATOGA, SARATOGA BOOK FESTIVAL, AND SARATOGA PRIDE

Steve Rosenblum is a deeply committed community volunteer and advocate. After a corporate career in Boston, Steve moved to Saratoga Springs in 2014 to work at the Masie Center as the event manager of the annual “Learning” conferences. Steve has always actively sought ways to make a difference in the community. Since retiring in 2020, Steve has been a “full-time volunteer,” advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, supporting the local arts scene and encouraging a love of literacy. As a member of the Saratoga Pride Planning Committee, he helps organize the annual Pride Festival at High Rock Park, as well as many other community events throughout the year. Steve currently serves as president of the Opera Saratoga Board of Directors, where he recently led the charge to hire a new general and artistic director.

He also volunteers as Operations Manager of the Saratoga Book Festival, an annual city-wide event, now in its third year. In case all of that isn’t enough, Steve devotes much of his “spare time” to various other organizations, including the Alliance for Positive Health as a “Dining Out for Life” ambassador, and Home Made Theater, where his husband Eric Rudy is the executive and artistic director. One of Steve’s proudest achievements was working with city leaders and other members of the Saratoga Pride Committee to install the rainbow crosswalk on Spring Street – a constant reminder of our welcoming community!
