Old Tavern Farm is a boutique thoroughbred breeding and cut flower farm located in Saratoga Springs, NY. We grow a wide variety of flowers for cut flower production, specializing in specialty flowers that reflect the season, our climate and our distinctive bouquets. We are looking for the right people to join our fast-growing team!  Days are spent outside in a high energy environment where we work (rain or shine) to bring these lovely flowers to our customers. We strive to grow high quality, long-lasting, distinctive blooms. While previous farm/field experience and floral design experience is a plus, it is not mandatory! Crew members will gain hands-on experience and understanding of all aspects of running a sustainable cut flower farm.  
 
Job duties below but not limited to:

  • Transplant and direct seeding
  • Maintain planting (cultivating, trellis, pruning and planting, etc) 
  • Field preparation
  • Watering field & greenhouse
  • Managing pest and fertilization 
  • Greenhouse Management   
  • Harvest & uphold post-harvest procedures
  • Prep & pack out flowers for retail/wholesale outlets
  • Dried flower production
  • Assisting floral design classes/workshops
 
The ideal candidate works well independently and alongside others, is comfortable making decisions in the field based on their knowledge, is comfortable taking instructions, is eager to learn, and who brings curiosity and enthusiasm to their work. This is a seasonal Flower Crew Member position (April- October) with the possibility of a year-round employment.
 
20-30 hours. Must be available to work full day on Thursday, Friday & half day on Saturday.
Pay based on experience 
Prior experience in farming and floral design is a plus
Rain or Shine/Warm or Cold Temperatures
Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environment 
Ability to monitor quality control and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Students in ag-based programs are also encouraged to apply
Can be used as internship
