Job Overview
The Digital Content Producer is responsible for creating, curating, and publishing engaging news content across digital platforms including websites, social media, and mobile apps. This role bridges traditional broadcast journalism with modern digital storytelling and audience engagement. Job Responsibilities
Content Creation & Publishing
- Write, edit, and publish news stories for web and mobile platforms.
- Produce multimedia content including video clips, graphics, and interactive elements.
- Ensure all content meets journalistic standards for accuracy, fairness, and clarity.
Social Media Strategy
- Manage and grow the station’s presence on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote news coverage and special features.
- Monitor trends and audience engagement to optimize content performance.
Collaboration & Editorial Support
- Work closely with reporters, producers, and assignment editors to identify digital angles for broadcast stories.
- Attend editorial meetings and pitch digital-first story ideas.
- Actively monitor an array police scanners and social media, websites, public safety scanners, phones and emails for breaking news.
- Work hand-in-hand with Assignment Editor to track follow-ups, and post digital updates to stories.
- Generate unique, enterprise story ideas. Assist on developing complete stories, find contacts, and track follow-ups.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and content providers when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Technical & Platform Management
- Use CMS tools to manage website content and layout.
- Apply SEO best practices to improve visibility and reach.
- Troubleshoot publishing issues and maintain digital asset libraries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in digital news production, preferably in a newsroom setting.
- Strong writing and editing skills, including grammar and AP style.
- Proficiency with digital publishing tools (e.g., WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Familiarity with social media analytics and audience engagement strategies.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
- Initiative and creativity in developing fresh, community-focused content.
- Must be available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Sits or stands for extended periods of time. Ability to hear clearly. Manual dexterity to manipulate computer keys, camera, and other controls as well as other office equipment. Must have good vision and hearing and be able to discern video and sound on many platforms. Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to think creatively and tactically and to articulate information in a clear and concise manner to others verbally and in writing. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. The Company will make reasonable physical accommodations to facilitate the ability to perform essential job functions.

This position is subject to pre-employment driving record background check. Compensation and Benefits
When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.
The hourly range for this position is $20.00-$22.00 per hour.
