Small Business Credit Associate

Responsible for underwriting commercial relationships and evaluating the financial condition of individuals and businesses applying for credit. Reviews, analyzes and recommends loan proposals with sponsoring banker for approval through respective loan authority. Under the direction of the Director of Retail & Business Banking, supervises small business credit analyst team and coordinates workflow for efficiency and quality.
Essential Job Functions:
> Manage day-to-day workflow and personnel to provide efficient and effective processing of small business loan accounts; prioritize work within unit and monitor workflow to ensure timely completion and reporting.
> Underwrite commercial credit relationships with emphasis on small business loans; pull credit reports and review appraisals for credits underwritten.
> Spread financial statements and prepare real estate cash flow analysis and analyze business financial statements, tax returns, and other data.
> Maintain current knowledge of banking, lending, and credit industries as well as appraisal regulations and requirements; assist management in creating processes/procedures to improve operational efficiencies while adhering to changes in regulations and appraisal requirements.
> Create reports for management, lenders, and customers as appropriate; work with colleagues and management to provide guidance, training, and support to reach goals as appropriate.
> Contribute to meetings with lenders and customers and attend Loan Committee meetings as appropriate.
> Collaborate with branch managers and business development officers to increase small business activity.
> Stay on top of available loan funds and community partnerships to broaden ability to help customers meet financial needs.
> Promotes Company credit culture, both internally and externally, and adheres to Company Loan Policy as well as regulatory and compliance requirements.

Education/Certifications/Experience:
> Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience required
> 6 years of experience in credit analysis and complex underwriting required
> Advanced degree/certification or formal credit analysis training preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
> Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to understand and interpret business financial documents
> Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment working independently and as part of a collaborative team
> Ability to manage competing tasks/projects and prioritize work to meet strict deadlines
> Solid communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with management and commercial lenders to provide quality service to customers
> Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Access and PowerPoint a plus
> Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data
> Comprehensive understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts associated with credit risk
Physical Demands:
> Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for brief periods of time.
> Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and computer mouse and keyboard.
> Ability to lift/move up to 15 lbs.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 annually commensurate with experience and education.
Additional compensation may be earned through the Company’s incentive programs, subject to individual and company performance.
